Post-it notes stuck on my television screen so I can watch any of the 20-odd channels I receive without having to see any digital on-screen graphics (station idents or news tickers).
Hahaha, I do it the other way around: I stick paper over the screen when I subtitle something at work that I don't want to witness (gross medical stuff, for example), leaving only the bottom of the screen free to be able to see the subtitling.

And I thought that I was a little peculiar that I'd put tape over the subtitles so as not to get distracted. But you've certainly elaborated...
