Dogs
Back in April, when I was feeling a bit blue and missing Billy a lot, I posted a small collection of photographs of dogs that I'd seen on my travels. The pictures that I posted last time are posted here again, but I feel it's only right to complete the collection for the hundophiles out there.

And, well, let's not pretend that you didn't know which dog would be at the end of this post, eh? It was wonderful to see him again. I'm not going to get to hang out with Billy as much as I'd hoped as he's a bit ill at the moment (Canine Coronavirus), but apart from that, he seems to be in fine fettle. It was kinda weird for him, I think, to see me after nearly nine months. When I walked up the path, he saw someone and I got the feeling he was thinking, That looks like the fella that I used to hang around with. And then we had a little hug and he licked my hands, and my arms, and my face, and spent the rest of the afternoon playing with a red ball. Lovely Billy.

Corona Virus is very dangerous for dogs. Thankfully Billy's caregivers were alert, as it can be cured if caught early enough, otherwise, it's deadly. I guess most of your readers already know that dogs have a very short-term memory UNLESS they have some sort of stimulation. They will only pine for a few days,or a week
(...maybe a month or so, if the bond was very deep...) then they just plain forget, unless something comes along to stimulate their recollection. I'm sure Billy was amazed to see you after so long apart. Maybe he thought you were a fever dream! I'd like to suggest a new book to all the dog-lovers who read this blog : THE STORY of EDGAR SAWTELLE. Oprah liked it, too.

about dog lovers' books..last year the day my dog sadly died, i went to the bookstore to distract my mind and found this book: A Dog Year by Jon Katz.
Sometimes change comes on 4 legs, writes Katz. it's so true. Such a warmhearted book..
What a gorgeous photo of Billy. I still remember the day you got him - I was at work and had to show the entire office his puppy pictures! Hope he gets well soon Craig
