Sometimes, little bits of creativity crop up on the bloggy bit of this site. They don't really fit anywhere else, and some of them are, I think, quite nice; and otherwise, they'd get kinda lost in the blog archives. This section's where some cherry picking of the better stuff goes on. Updated 5 May 2011 Five years of sleep I kept a record of the amount of sleep I had from 12 September 2006 to 11 September 2011. It is an ongoing thing. Earlier versions, A year of sleep, Two years of sleep, Three years of sleep, and Four years of sleep. (September 2011) New Year's resolution A joke. (December 2010) Christmas songs in the UK Quick chart looking at the top five singles for the Christmas week since 1970, the year I was born. Basically, what we see is the 1970s and 80s had a decent proportion of Christmassy songs floating around. I've disqualified blatantly sentimental stuff or novelty records that may have had Christmas-themed videos, but weren't actually Christmas songs. That includes "Stay Another Day" by East 17 which, while a fantastic song, is not a Christmas song. Tacking some bells on to a song, and having a snowy video doesn't make it a Christmas song. (December 2010) Mount Rainier Animated gif of a beautiful mountain. (December 2010) I wouldn't walk 500 miles And I wouldn't walk 500 more. (October 2010) My flight intentions Taking a flight from Toronto to Mexico City, I planned out what I could do with my time in the sky. And acknowledged what I'd actually be doing. (December 2009) Graph of Smarties How many of each colour are in a tube of Smarties. (December 2009) Graph of aeroplane nibbles How many seeds, sultanas, and "savoury bites" in a bag of stuff given to me on a British Airways flight. (November 2009) A reply to "Breaking Glass" by David Bowie What it says. (September 2009) The hierarchy of popular music Why Eric Clapton is better than James Brown. (July 2009) Jörg Some wee animated drawings of a dog. (July 2009) Sculpey dudes I had a bit of writer's block at the time, so just started playing around with Sculpey polymer clay.(May 2009) Qur'an Qur'an I should've changed the album title to Riyadh, too, I guess. (January 2009) Trevor, Bruce, and Jeremy Drawing of Trevor McDonald, Bruce Forsyth, and Jeremy Clarkson. (November 2008) A baseball Drawing of a baseball. (October 2008) John McCain Drawing of a Republican presidential candidate done whilst lying in bed, watching the Phillies beat the Dodgers. I didn't have my mouse, and drawing with a laptop's trackpad can be a pain in the arse, so I tried to draw a picture solely with elipses. (October 2008) Parrot I was talking to a friend, trying to think of the word "parrot." It was just whizzing around my brain evading use. In the end I used two other words to describe a parrot: a bird and a jungle creature. (September 2008) Lager zoo Simple, really. (August 2008) FFF salutes the Sugarhill Gang What the title says. (May 2008) Geogradoggies As is my wont, I'm often slouched in front of my computer ooh-ing and aah-ing at various things on Google Earth. Sometimes one finds dogs in the landscape, or, as I like to call them, "Geogradoggies." (September 2006, March 2008) Neapolitan man After getting sun burnt on a beach in Brazil, this was the three main skin tones I was sporting (March 2008) Nearly USA map Some missing tiles on a building in São Paulo (February 2008) Robert Plant A quick scribble of a rock star. (January 2007) No bugs or tickers Post-it notes stuck on my television screen so I can watch any of the 20-odd channels I receive without having to see any digital on-screen graphics (station idents or news tickers). (January 2007) Dirk Kuyt A quick doodle of the Liverpool striker. (November 2006) Rasputin in spilt paint Title says it all. (October 2006) Roger A timid bird.
