THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS FEAT. THE FLAMING LIPS "THE GOLDEN PATH"/THE WHITE STRIPES "SEVEN NATION ARMY"
SINCE the MTV EMAs, these two songs have been fighting it out in my head to be top Ohrwurm. Walking down the street, sat at my desk, hopping like a bunny towards the kitchen: one or the other is there in my head, and usually on my lips.
With The Golden Path, (which Hanni thinks sounds like U2's Where The Streets Have No Name, and she's got a point), it's the singy bit at the end of the song, "Please forgive me/I never meant to hurt you".
The part of Seven Nation Army that sticks in my head is the guitar riff.
At every spare moment my brain has had over the weekend, one of these two pops up to the surface. It's like the way you can't hold a plastic football under the water with the palm of your hand for very long. My brain is that palm, and, y'know, the songs are the ball. Crap analogy, I know, but you get the idea.
Anyway, I thought that you may want to inflict this pain on yourself, so I got the FFF Singers to recreate the effect for you. Just click here.
